Line 6 Planet Waves iPhone Guitar/Amp Control

Line 6 + Planet Waves have joined forces to create an iPhone app to control your Variax guitar + amp sounds + effects from the iPhone.

Just announced at the Apple WWDC.

Will anyone actually use it?

  1. Saw this demoed live on stage tonight at WWDC. App looks awesome. It's limited in the equipment it works with, but once Line 6 rolls it out to more amps, this could be huge.

    In addition to effects, you can set the type of guitar you want to sound like or change tuning digitally. Wild!

  2. i wonder when they're going to come out with y-cable adapter that plugs into your iphone on one end and splits out to a female stereo 1/8" jack for your headphones and a separate female 1/4" input for your guitar. with that cable, you'd be able to use the iphone as your portable headphone monitoring system with effects for recording, jamming and learning songs.

  3. Haven't seen anything, but I'd guess that its an iPhone to USB or MIDI adapter that allows the iPhone to interact with a PODX3 or PODXT with a Variax guitar connected to the variax digital input.
